A Solar Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing solar power systems, including photovoltaic (PV) panels and related equipment. They ensure systems operate efficiently and safely while complying with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install solar panel systems on rooftops or ground-mounted structures
- Assemble and wire solar arrays, inverters, batteries, and electrical components
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of solar systems
- Troubleshoot and repair system faults and performance issues
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Test system performance and document results
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and clients during installations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in electrical, renewable energy, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of solar PV systems and electrical systems
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Understanding of wiring, circuits, and electrical safety practices
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and outdoors
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with solar installation or electrical work
- Certification in solar energy (e.g., PV installation certification)
- Familiarity with local electrical codes and regulations
- Valid driver’s license (if fieldwork is required)
Working Conditions
